Together with Mitsui & Co., we sincerely respond to the various needs of customers and the shipping industry.

Orient Marine was established in 1988 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. to provide highly specialized services for ship related business.

Supported by our valued customers and partners over the years, we celebrated our 30th anniversary last year.
Today, we have grown into a company that offers a wide range of services, including chartering, operational services, S&P, marine machinery and equipment sales, ship-building supervision, and technical consulting.

In an era when people's lifestyles, economic mechanisms, technologies, and business models change and evolve faster than ever, logistics itself, including marine transportation, is transforming drastically.

Together with Mitsui & Co., we will work hand-in-hand with our customers, respond sincerely to various needs and expectations, transform ourselves regularly, and continue to take on new challenges for the development of the ship industry.

 1988 Mar. Orient Marine Co., Ltd. was established on 29th March, 1988 by spinning off the ship management and time chartering business of the Ship and Marine Project Division of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to form an independent entity to act as a ship management and chartering arm of Mitsui
 1991 Oct. The secondhand Ship Sales and Purchase section of Mitsui was transferred to Orient Marine.
 2001 Nov. Orient Marine’s Amsterdam office was established and began offering chartering operation services to European shipping companies.
 2005 May Orient Marine’s Singapore branch was established as a branch of the Ship Management Department; managing 8 bulk carriers and tankers.
 2006 Dec. Orient Marine’s Hamburg office was established, reinforcing the provision of shipping-related services to European shipping companies.
 2009 Nov. Relocate to the Marunouchi Trust Tower North, Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
 2010 Apr. Toyo Ship Machinery Co., Ltd.,a spin out company of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. established in 1989, was merged with Orient Marine and became the Ship Machinery Sales Dept.; its operations were unchanged.
 2011 Apr. The function of Orient Marine’s Singapore branch has been transferred to Mitsui’s subsidiary company OMC Shipping.
 2014 Aug. Closed Orient Marine’s Amsterdam office, and transferred it’s function to Orient Marine’s Hamburg office.
 2018 Dec. Orient Marine’s Geneva branch was established to strengthen the relationship with Geneva charterers.
 2020 Apr. Orient Marine’s Singapore branch was re-established to strengthen the relationship with customers in Singapore.
